Austin Rivers, model GF Audreyana Michelle announce baby with alley-oop (Video)

Austin Rivers found out he’s having a baby boy with an alley-oop.

Gender reveal parties are getting grander and more extreme these days (and sometimes even dangerous, if you live in California), but Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers had the right idea.

For his gender reveal with his girlfriend, model Audreyana Michelle, Rivers finished off an alley-oop dunk with a special, miniature-sized ball filled with powder — either blue for a boy or pink for a girl.

The blue powder exploded all over his hands after the dunk, and the couple was able to celebrate the happy news that they’ll be having a baby boy:

We’ve got to give credit to Rivers and Michelle for keeping it simple, but still doing something fun for their gender reveal. It’s not often that the Rockets backup guard gets to throw down, but with the mini-ball, it was easy. More importantly, their gender reveal party didn’t set an entire state on fire.

We should also take a moment to appreciate Rivers’ hilarious caption on Instagram, where he confessed to being worried about a LeBron James chase-down block. That’s just amazing.

Finally, we should acknowledge the perfect pass from Michelle on the lob. Sure, she was right in front of the basket and literally had one job, but that’s great teamwork! And what is parenting with someone you love if not teamwork and trying to find the right chemistry to alley-oop dunk on the obstacles of life?
