Fantasy Football: 5 bold predictions for Week 6
By Dustin Baker
4. The Buccanneers stop RBs, so they will stop Aaron Jones
Here’s the deal: Don’t go benching Jones because the modus operandi of the Buccaneers is to stifle running backs. That would be foolhardy, especially if we’re wrong. Jones is too explosive to bench him altogether against anybody.
However, be emotionally prepared for two things: a) Aaron Jones won’t have a stratospheric day in Tampa Bay b) The Packers may actually lose their first game.
This is not a whimsical forecast. Tampa Bay allows just 58 rushing yards per game — best in the NFL. This could spike a bit with defensive lineman Vita Vea lost for the season, but the culture is one that preaches run-stopping. The drop-off will not be too egregious, if at all, sans Vea.
Additionally, the Buccaneers are reeling from a loss in Chicago that they should have avoided. The Bears did not look particularly formidable, but they found a way to win a home interconference game. Tom Brady has a long memory. Dethroning Aaron Rodgers from his 2020 undefeated throne will be a satisfying method to bounce back from Brady’s Week 5 mistakes.
Start Jones with understanding that this is a week when he registers south of 70 yards from scrimmage. Jones is prone to absentee football games in terms of production. Check his 2019 game log.
