Freddie Freeman makes another MVP statement with 2-run bomb in Game 2
By Mark Powell
Freddie Freeman is a monster at the dish and gave the Braves an early lead
Freeman in the two-hole just behind Robert Acuña seems unfair, but it’s the dilemma Tony Gonsolin and the Los Angeles Dodgers are currently dealing with in the NLCS. With his team already up by a game in the series, Freeman hit a two-run shot in the fourth inning to give his team the lead in Game 2.
The Braves have scored big on the big fly so far this series. In the ninth inning of last night’s game, Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies went deep to give the Braves the lead and eventually put it away. It’s a trait the Braves have carried all season, and although Freeman is known as a complete hitter, his power cannot be underestimated. Gonsolin found this out the hard way.
Freeman’s M-V-Free case is as strong as ever
While the MVP is voted on by the MLBPA before the season ends, there’s a reason Freeman was the favorite then, and a reason it would seem like a crime against baseball should he not get it come the NLCS. Any time Atlanta needs a big hit, Freeman is up to the challenge. He’s been that way for year and is finally receiving the credit he deserves, albeit in a shortened 60-game season.
Freeman and the Braves are still yet to lose this postseason. They look to continue that trend in Game 2.
