Damian Priest successfully defende his title in the main event, but couldn’t avoid Johnny Gargano’s attack with a steel chair.

Another edition of NXT came to viewers from the Capital Wrestling Center with fans in attendance both virtually and in-person.

The night started with a tag team match to determine the number one contenders to the belts. The Undisputed Era put forth the duo of Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish to face off against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Burch and Lorcan were working well together to keep the former champions on the back foot. They isolated Fish early in the match, keeping him away from Strong for much of the opening of the match.

The two teams in the ring were two of the best in the WWE and this match showed it. Offense switched between strikes and grappling, with Lorcan and Burch remaining in control for much of the match. After planting Strong with an assisted DDT, it looked like the match was over, but Strong hit a jumping knee on Lorcan and pinned him in the middle of the ring. The Undisputed Era are the next contenders for Breezango.

Ashante Adonis was out next for a singles match against Jake Atlas. They started off the match well matched until Atlas kicked Adonis in the face with a perfectly timed dropkick. They did not get off to a real start until Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde came down to the ring. Their appearance distracted Adonis enough for Atlas to roll him up for the victory.

Johnny Gargano is still reeling from losing his shot at the NXT North American title, but he had to rebound about Austin Theory in a singles match. Theory tried to match Gargano’s wrestling early, but the guy named Johnny Wrestling took control early. Theory did not stay down for long, using his power to level Gargano. Gargano would have his moments in comeback spurts, but Theory remained on top for the majority of the match.

The young competitor would not be able to hold on forever. He was tossed into the bottom turnbuckle like a lawn dart, eventually taking the One Final Beat from Gargano, giving the NXT Triple Crown champion the victory.

Io Shirai is looking for a contender of her own. Shotzi Blackheart and Candice LeRae had to fight it out for the opportunity to fight for the title. Blackheart had the advantage early, avoiding LeRae’s offense and landing a big dive on her outside the ring. Blackheart looked like she was rolling in this match, but LeRae’s experience allowed her to take over when the opening presented itself. LeRae slowed the match down, punishing Blackheart with offense.

Blackheart would not stay down. She ground LeRae after several strikes and went for her Senton Splash. LeRae got her knees up but Blackheart still kicked out of the pin attempt. Blackheart locked in an innovative submission but LeRae was able to get her foot under the bottom rope. LeRae rolled outside of the ring and was slipped some brass knuckles by Indi Hartwell. LeRae landed a shot to Blackheart’s face and pinned her to get the victory and another shot at Shirai at Halloween Havoc.

Toni Storm made her NXT return against Aliyah of the Robert Stone Brand. Storm was rolling at first, but she was not much of a threat for the former NXT UK women’s champion. Storm quickly hit the Storm Zero to get the comeback victory.

The former tag team champions, Imperium were out next as they had a match against Killian Dain and Drake Maverick. Dain started the match but when Maverick came in, he was immediately dominated by Imperium. Dain started to wreck house when he got into the match, but even he was halted by Imperium. He got the tag to Maverick but that did not help their situation. Maverick ate the Imperium Explosion, allowing the former champions to pick of the victory.

The main event of the evening brought out Damian Priest to defend his title against Dexter Lumis. Lumis’s “strange” style threw the champion for a loop early. Priest still took control, landing the Broken Arrow but Lumis still kicked out of the pin fall attempt. Priest kept Lumis off balance, landing moves on him inside and outside of the ring. He even locked in a toe hold, showing his abilities to use submission wrestling as well.

Lumis did not go away without a fight. He countered a spin kick into a sidewalk slam, immediately locking in the Arm-Triangle choke. Lumis looked like he was rolling to a victory until Cameron Grimes ran in and hit the Cave In. Priest followed up with the South of Heaven and pinned Lumis in the middle of the ring to keep his title.
