2. Kris Richard

A lot of Cowboys fans wanted Mike McCarthy to retain Kris Richard when he first arrived. The former defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks served as the DBs coach under Jason Garrett in 2018 and 2019.

Richard showed promise in Seattle, where he had a hand in developing the Legion of Boom. While the Seahawks ultimately let him go after the 2017 season, his defenses were considerably better there than Dallas’ currently is.

Like Phillips, Richard is sitting at home right now wondering when he’ll get his next opportunity.

Ultimately, Richard wants to be a head coach, but a chance to raise his profile as a defensive coordinator could be just the move to take him closer to that dream.
