Aaron Rodgers is fully in damage control mode after Bucs loss
Aaron Rodgers is trying to put out the flames after the Packers were beaten down by the Buccaneers
Aaron Rodgers didn’t tell Packers fans to R-E-L-A-X, but he might as well have.
The quarterback is in damage control mode after Green Bay’s 38-10 loss to the Buccaneers.
It was only the team’s first loss of the season. It was still a huge wake-up call.
For Rodgers though, it was just one of those days.
“I’ve played for so long, you’re going to have a couple stinkers,” Rodgers said, referencing a loss to the Giants back in 2012 when things started, then nothing went right. “This is, I believe, an anomaly, not the beginning of a trend. And we have a chance to prove me right next week.”
Aaron Rodgers isn’t panicking after a bad loss for the Packers
Sunday’s game in Tampa Bay was certainly a “stinker” for Rodgers. He threw two interceptions and was sacked four times. The Packers scored the first 10 points of the game but were outscored 38-0 after the first quarter.
For the most part, when Rodgers has urged calm, he’s been right.
After the aforementioned loss to New York in 2012, Green Bay won their next four games and secured a place in the playoffs.
When he told fans to R-E-L-A-X in 2014, they won 11 of 13 games to finish the regular season.
They’re in a stronger position this time around with a 4-1 start.
Still, the onus is on the team to prove Rodgers right just as he said. They can do so when they travel to Houston to play the Texans.
Adding to the pressure is the performance of the Chicago Bears, who currently hold first place in the NFC North with a 5-1 record. Rodgers and company have to keep pace with Nick Foles and a Bears squad that keeps finding ways to win.
