Deshaun Watson – Houston Texans

The Titans and the Texans would never have gotten to overtime if not for a scintillating display by Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson, who delivered his best performance of the season so far.

Watson guided the Texans back from a 14-point deficit and had them in position to claim their second win of the season when he hit Brandin Cooks on a one-yard touchdown pass to give Houston a 36-29 lead.

The Texans may have failed to hold on to their advantage, but fantasy owners will have been delighted with a showing that marked the highpoint of Watson’s recent upturn in production.

Watson completed 28-of-37 passes for 335 yards and four touchdown passes. It was his third successive game with 300 yards passing and saw him finish Sunday as the top-scoring quarterback in fantasy with 32 points.

The Texans were an extremely difficult team to trust with Bill O’Brien at the helm. However, interim head coach Romeo Crennel has been aggressive and empowered Watson to win games with his arm.

Given the porous nature of the Texans’ defense, game scripts should continue to put Watson in positions where he has to throw to keep Houston in games.

Watson is working with an inferior supporting cast on a bad team but, given the likelihood he will consistently be asked to try to overcome deficits down the stretch, the Texans star should be considered a high-end starting fantasy quarterback the rest of the way.
