Week 7 of the NFL regular season here and it’s time for teams to show what they’re all about. Keep a close eye on these five matchups this weekend.

The NFL regular season isn’t quite at the midpoint yet, but most teams have given their fans a clear indication of whether or not they’re capable of being legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2020. That doesn’t mean there isn’t still a lot left to figure out about the rest of the league though.

Week 7 should provide everyone with some definitive answers. There may not be any dream matchups between elite teams this weekend, but there are plenty of games that should tell us a lot about where both teams stand. The following five matchups should be the most intriguing battles of this week’s NFL slate.

5. Baker Mayfield’s present against the promise of Joe Burrow

Mayfield didn’t necessarily get benched in his team’s lopsided loss to the Steelers last weekend, but that doesn’t change the reality that he was a big reason for his offense’s struggles. Completing 10-of-18 passes with two interceptions isn’t a recipe for success for Cleveland’s starting quarterback.

This week’s matchup against the Bengals pits Mayfield in an interesting battle with Joe Burrow. In many ways, Burrow is the new Mayfield. He’s the No. 1 overall pick that has fans excited about his team’s future. Mayfield, in sharp contrast, is facing questions over his qualifications to be the Browns’ franchise signal-caller of the present.

If Mayfield doesn’t outgun Burrow this weekend, he’s going to face more criticism than ever before. It’s not a must-win for Cleveland, but it’s close.
