The New York Jets seem to be starting a fire sale, so they should go all-in and trade these five players before the deadline.

The New York Jets are 0-6, and the overall picture of the franchise is even more dismal than that record suggests. They’ve been outscored 185-75 thus far, putting them on pace for the worst point differential in NFL history. Head coach Adam Gase is on his last legs, even if he’ll be allowed to finish the season.

The trade of safety Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks was the first sign during the offseason. But an attempt to trade Le’Veon Bell before cutting him, and deals that have sent defensive tackle Steve McLendon to Tampa Bay and linebacker Jordan Willis to San Francisco show Jets GM Joe Douglas is ready to make moves and build the team the way he’d like to.

Looking to the future, without Gase and with a question mark at quarterback, the Jets need to add draft capital and perhaps some younger talent at certain spots.

The trades of Wills and McLendon are minor moves. Between now and the Nov. 3 deadline, the Jets should go all-on a teardown/rebuild and trade these five players.

5. S Bradley McDougald

McDougald was the player the Jets got from Seattle in the Adams trade. He has been pretty productive thus far, with 33 total tackles in six games while playing at least 93 percent of the snaps in five games.

McDougald is also in the final year of his contract, with a base salary of $3.6 million and a cap number just over $4 million. He is only a year removed from a season where he allowed a 58.8 passer rating in his coverage, as he played 88 percent of the snaps for the Seahawks.

McDougald has shown himself to be a versatile safety. Teams in need of help on the back end (the Browns? the Cowboys?) should be inquiring about him.
