3. LB Avery Williamson

Williamson missed all of last season with a torn right ACL, and he also missed Week 1 as he completed his recovery. He has played in all five games since, with at least eight total tackles in three of the last four. He led the Jets with 120 total tackles in 2018, along with six pass breakups and three sacks.

There should be a fair amount of interest in Williamson, who is in the final year of a three-year deal. The Pittsburgh Steelers are an easily cited suitor, as they look to replace the injured Devin Bush. The Philadelphia Eagles could also be in the mix.

Williamson appeared on WFAN this week, and he was naturally asked about the possibility he’ll be the next Jet traded. The expected response followed.

“I’m not concerned – at the end of the day, I’m going to make sure I’m focusing on playing football,” he said. “You can’t control the decisions they make upstairs, so it’s best to not even worry about them.”

Williamson is a perfect trade candidate for the Jets, a productive (and now healthy) player on an expiring contract. If he’s not gone by Nov. 3, it will be a surprise.
