The Browns win might have a somber undertone

Odell Beckham, Jr. was injured in the first half of the Browns victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Cleveland bounced back from a rough loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers just last week.

Beckham, Jr. was finally playing like the receiver Cleveland thought they were acquiring from the New York Giants, showing his explosive ability after the catch. Sadly, that may all be for naught should he be out long-term, which the Browns fear he may be given the circumstances of his injury.

Per Ian Rapoport: “WR Odell Beckham, who was knocked out of today’s game early, is feared to have suffered a major knee injury, source said. He’ll have an MRI in the morning and perhaps there will be some better news, but early indications aren’t good.”

The Browns were already short-handed before Beckham, Jr.’s injury

OBJ going down would just add to Cleveland’s offensive woes. Despite Baker Mayfield’s solid comeback performance in which he completed 18 consecutive passes, the Browns are already down Nick Chubb for at least a few more weeks. Without a legitimate deep threat in Beckham, their offense will be lacking weapons. Kareem Hunt, Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper are solid, but it’s far from the arsenal Mayfield had when the season opened.

Beckham, Jr. was ruled out almost immediately following his injury. He was hurt while playing a position he’s rather unfamiliar with, making a tackle on a Mayfield interception. It was the second straight game Baker’s started off on the wrong foot with an opening drive turnover.

Hopefully, the Browns initial prognosis is a false one, but it’s not a good sign.
