The Washington Football team snapped a five-game losing streak by routing the hapless Cowboys. Running back Antonio Gibson ran 20 times for 128 yards and one score, rolling up more than half of the team’s 208 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Kyle Allen threw for 194 yards and scores to wide receiver Terry McLaurin and tight end Logan Thomas. Second-year pro Montez Sweat finished with two of Washington six sacks and also forced a fumble.
The Bolts were back in action after a week off and rookie quarterback Justin Herbert had another solid outing. The sixth overall pick in April’s draft threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a team-high 66 yards and one score.
Anthony Lynn’s club got off to a great start but trailed by seven late in the third quarter. But the Chargers scored the final 17 points of the game and the team ended a four-game losing streak via a 10-point win.
The club had an opportunity to get back to the .500 mark if they could win on the road for the second straight Sunday. The Lions trailed by six points at Atlanta with 64 ticks remaining on the clock. But quarterback Matthew Stafford took the team 75 yards on eight plays and found tight end T.J. Hockenson from 11 yards out on the final play of the contest.
Matt Prater added the PAT and Matt Patricia’s club now owns a 3-1 record on the road in 2020.
