NFL Week 7 MNF Fantasy Picks: Start Rams or Bears ‘D’, sit both quarterbacks
“Defense” is the crucial element of the Monday Night Football (MNF) game between the Chicago Bears (5-1) and the Los Angeles Rams (4-2).
So if you are in a conundrum about who to start at “Defense/Special Teams” in week 7, you can pick either of these two teams. It makes sense because, according to the ESPN standard scoring system, the Rams have the No. 6 team defense and special teams in fantasy football. (The Bears are ranked No. 68.) Plus L.A. has given up only 114 points and Chicago has surrendered just 116 points in 6 games.
The defensive surefire starters are lineman Aaron Donald of the Rams and Chicago linebacker Khalil Mack. Either or both players have the capacity to be a difference maker in this MNF game
The rest of the players on L.A. and Chicago are full of potential, but few have broken through to Tier 2 status. For example, the Rams’ Jared Goff is ranked No. 13 among starting quarterbacks. Nick Foles, who replaced Bears’ starter Mitch Trubisky, is ranked No. 28.
The Chicago Bears do have a couple of players who have consistently helped their team and generated some fantasy football value. Wide receiver Allen Robinson, who has been targeted 66 times, caught 40 passes for 474 yards and has 2 TD receptions, is a possible flex starter. Teammate Jim Graham has 4 touchdown catches among 22 receptions and accumulated 66.3 FFP, which makes him a potential tight end starter.
It should be a pass-happy game, because he highest ranked running back on either team is the Bears’ David Montgomery who sits at No. 18 going week 7 with 80.8 fantasy football points (FFP). RB Darnell Henderson of the Rams is No. 22 with 75.4 FFP.
Finally, the MNF contest should be a low-scoring game. You’ll be lucky to see 39 total points in the game, but I foresee a Rams’ win at home.
