3 last-second trades the Saints can make to win NFC South
By Mike Luciano
1. Chargers CB Desmond King comes to New Orleans
King was an integral member of one of the league’s best secondaries over the last few years, but the addition of Chris Harris has rendered him somewhat obsolete, leading the former Iowa star to publically ask for a trade if he wasn’t going to be given enough playing time on defense. In their frothing excitement to add more offensive playmakers, New Orleans forgot to add a second cornerback, as what’s left of Janoris Jenkins isn’t doing much to frighten opposing offenses, King would immediately solve that problem upon arriving in New Orleans.
We all know that Marshon Lattimore is one of the best in the business on the outside, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is a quality nickel back, but that Saints secondary has done little to quell some of the NFC’s best passing attacks. King is best served in the slot, but his versatility means that he could go and play on the perimeter if the Saints demanded it. The Saints have found no issue with trading draft picks lately, so why stop at King?
