NFL quarterback rankings, Week 8: Tom Brady is an MVP candidate
2020 stats: 1,930 yards | 72.2 completion % | 8 TDs | 5 INTs | 8.2 YPA | 71.3 QBR
Last Week: 18
Bridgewater continues to pile up the numbers. He ranks second in completion rate, fifth in yardage and seventh in yards per attempt. So why this low? Bridgewater bogs down in the red zone, which leaves him on pace for 17 touchdown passes. It’s a major flaw in his game.
2020 stats: 1,012 yards | 66.9 completion % | 7 TDs | 4 INTs | 8.2 YPA | 70.6 QBR

Garoppolo is talented, but he’s also helped out by the league’s most quarterback-friendly scheme and a host of talent around him. Even with that, his numbers are average, which is why he’s almost smack in the middle of these rankings.
2020 stats: 1,580 yards | 62.3 completion % | 10 TDs | 4 INTs | 7.7 YPA | 71.6 QBR

The Lions are 3-3, and Stafford is playing solid football. Against Atlanta, he engineered the game-winning drive, hitting T.J. Hockenson on a touchdown with no time remaining. The numbers are almost universally average, but Stafford at least provides big-play capability.
2020 stats: 1,446 yards | 68.2 completion % | 13 TDs | 4 INTs | 6.8 YPA | 58.8 QBR

Roethlisberger fell four spots despite Pittsburgh beating a previously unbeaten Titans team. The reason is simple: he doesn’t connect down the field. Roethlisberger completed four passes over 10 air yards, all while throwing three interceptions. His YPA ranks 26th in the league, right ahead of Mitchell Trubisky and Drew Lock. It’s becoming a problem.
2020 stats: 1,847 yards | 66.8 completion % | 13 TDs | 7 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 73.5 QBR

Murray was terrific save for one interception on Sunday night in a wild 37-34 overtime win over the Seahawks. Any time you can rack up 427 total yards and four touchdowns without the benefit of garbage time, you’re moving up in the rankings. Murray was sublime in a big moment.
