Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson had a cutting response on social media after getting sucker-punched by Javon Wims.

It was a wild day for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

The Saints safety led his team in tackles and tackles for loss as New Orleans beat Chicago in overtime. But that was far from the biggest headline of his day.

Gardner-Johnson was the victim of a sucker-punch by Bears wide receiver Javon Wims.

It’s safe to say Gardner-Johnson came out the better of the two. His helmet protected him from both of Wims’s punches, while the receiver got ejected and the Saints won the game.

The safety got another win when he took to social media later on Sunday.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson won the fight with Javon Wims

Gardner-Johnson is known for talking trash. He was even punched by his own teammate Michael Thomas a few weeks ago during practice.

The key to being a trash talker is backing it up. Gardner-Johnson did that with his reaction to the initial punch.

He also did it with his play, tallying nine tackles, including eight solo efforts and two tackles for loss.

Gardner-Johnson wasn’t the only Saint to respond on Twitter. Janoris Jenkins, who jumped to his defense, also had some thoughts after the game.

In case you missed it, Gardner-Johnson and Jenkins are both former Florida Gators. Wims is a former Georgia Bulldog. The rivalry vibes were clear in the fight.

The win moved the Saints to 5-2 on the season and gave them control of the NFC South. It hasn’t been easy. Their last three wins have come by no more than three points each.

As for the Bears, they’ve got some issues, beginning with what to do with Wims. They’ve lost two games in a row and have fallen behind the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.
