Twitter let Javon Wims of the Chicago Bears know he embarrassed himself when he sucker-punched a Saints defender

The third quarter of Sunday’s matchup between the Bears and the Saints took an unexpected and mostly-ridiculous turn in the third quarter.

Chicago wide receiver Javon Wims decided to settle a score with New Orleans’ defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson by coming up behind him after a play and cold-clocking him in the helmet.

It was the ultimate NFL lowlight which sparked a pile up as players from both sides tried to either get involved or intervene.

Twitter mercilessly dragged Javon Wims for his stupid decision

Undoubtedly the best part of the fight was Gardner-Johnson’s reaction to the initial punch.

What else are you supposed to do when a guy comes up from behind and tries to sucker punch you while you’re wearing a hunk of plastic protective equipment?

The worst part of it was how Wims seemed to act like he won something in the aftermath.

When he cools down, Wims will realize he was the big loser in the engagement.

The Bears were also a loser as a team because the challenge of beating the Saints got a lot tougher.

It’s no wonder so many people agreed this isn’t just an ejection, it’s a cut-able offense.

The comparisons to the brawl in the Florida-Missouri game in the SEC on Saturday were instantaneous.

Even more jumped on the rivalry between Florida and Georgia, with Wims as a former Bulldog and Gardner-Johnson as a former Gator.

Wims was tossed for instigating the fight, heading to the locker room with one catch for nine yards. Whether or not that’s his last reception for the Bears will come down to head coach Matt Nagy and his disciplinary mindset. He certainly has a decision to make.
