The Steelers can’t catch a break against the Ravens

Jimmy Smith is evidently allowed to claw, scratch and hold opposing wide receivers as long as he pleads withe the officiating not to make the call against him. Among the many things we’ve learned from the Ravens impressive performance against the Steelers so far on Sunday, it’s that Baltimore’s physicality is often elusive.

Smith was grabbing Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson on a third-and-long, and Pittsburgh should’ve been rewarded with an obvious pass interference to give them a first down. Instead, Jordan Barry was forced to punt.

Pittsburgh would make up for the bad call shortly thereafter

Alex Hightower would pick off Lamar Jackson just a few plays later, changing the moods of Steelers fans across the country. Pittsburgh would then cash in on the turnover with an Eric Ebron touchdown catch.

Officiating across the NFL has been incredibly inconsistent in 2020, and the Steelers have found this out firsthand on Sunday.
