Titans’ Adam Humphries carted off after horrifying moment in Cincinnati
The Titans passing attack might be limited Sunday without Adam Humphries in the slot
The Tennessee Titans offense has been rolling in the second year of the Ryan Tannehill era. Unfortunately, they could be without a prime target moving into the second half of the season.
Titans wide receiver Adam Humphries would leave the game during the closing seconds of the second quarter with a head injury. After colliding with a pair of Cincinnati Bengals on a slant route, the veteran pass-catcher would go limp on the play while laying on the ground and would remain on the turf for several minutes.
The positive news for Humphries is he did look alert while standing up and sitting down on the medical cart. He would leave on the cart for cautionary reasons while heading into the Titans locker room.
Concussions are a part of Humphries’ history
Concussions have factored into Humphries’ career before. During his stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the slot target would suffer a concussion and miss several games during the 2016 season.
Signing a four-year, $36 million deal with the Titans in 2019, his receptions have been limited in both seasons. Last year, Humphries finished with 37 catches for 374 yards and two touchdowns. Through five games, the 27-year-old has hauled in 22 receptions for 219 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite Humphries’ limited role, the Titans passing attack will suffer without him. The run game has been promising behind the likes of Derrick Henry, but Tannehill has vastly improved following his massive extension from the Music City franchise this offseason. In five starts, Tannehill has thrown for 1,590 yards, 15 touchdowns, two interceptions and has a passer rating of 112.3.
