While it’s been a rough start to the Ron Rivera Era in D.C., the club finds itself right in the thick of an ugly race for the NFC East title. Second-year pro Dwayne Haskins began the season behind center but too many mistakes sent him to the bench in favor of Kyle Allen.

The biggest bright spot for the club has been the defense, featuring a pass-rush laden with first-round picks. And while the team has just two victories, both have come within the division.

Los Angeles Chargers. 23. team. 13. . 2-5. Previous:

The Chargers were not only swept a year ago by the rival Broncos but Anthony Lynn’s team had dropped seven straight games to AFC West rivals entering Sunday’s tilt in Denver. Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert had another impressive outing, but his 278 yards and three TD tosses were offset a bit by two interceptions.

But stop if you have heard this before. Lynn’s club squandered another big lead and wasted a 24-3 third-quarter advantage.

Detroit Lions. 22. team. 50. . 3-4. Previous:

The Lions were back at home and had an opportunity to climb above the .500 mark with a win over the well-rested Colts. Matt Patricia’s club had dropped six straight at Ford Field but did lead 7-0 in the second quarter before giving up three Philip Rivers’ TD passes before halftime.

Matthew Stafford was sacked five times and one of his two turnovers was an interception returned for a score. Detroit has allowed a combined 145 points in their four losses.
