The Falcons need to be on upset alert against Denver

It sure feels like the coaching change in Atlanta has breathed new life into the Falcons. Since switching from Dan Quinn to Raheem Morris, Atlanta has gone 2-1 over the past three games, including a win in Carolina last Thursday.

Despite the win, there are still plenty of concerning signs with this Falcons’ team. Atlanta still has one of the NFL’s worst defenses, surrendering 26.8 points per game, and it maintains a propensity for blowing big leads late in games.

This week sees the Falcons getting an extra few days to prepare for the 3-4 Denver Broncos, who are coming into town fresh off a huge comeback win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Denver isn’t a great team but they do have plenty of offensive weapons to challenge Atlanta’s suspect defense.

The oddsmakers have established Atlanta as four-point favorites but this game could well be a toss-up given the inconsistent nature of the Falcon’s play this season. No one should be surprised if the Broncos walk into Mercedes-Benz Stadium and find a way to knock off the Falcons with another late comeback.
