4. Buccaneers vs. Wounded Pride

Tampa Bay was thoroughly embarrassed by the Saints on Sunday Night Football. Tom Brady may not be the same physical talent he was during his prime, but he’s still every bit as competitive as he was during his younger days. That’s bad news for a Panthers defense that hopes to contain him in Week 10.

On the surface, it’s a perfect recipe for the Buccaneers offense to get well. Donte Jackson is Carolina’s best corner and he’s battling a worrisome toe injury on a weekly basis. Rasul Douglas is the frequent starter on the other side and the Eagles gave him away for nothing just before the regular season kicked off.

Brady should get lots of opportunities to take advantage of Carolina’s weak secondary on deep shots down the field. The only potential worry for Tampa Bay will be protecting their legendary, but immobile signal-caller. Brian Burns is an edge rusher that the Buccaneers coaching staff must pay attention to this week.

The X-factor for Carolina will be whether or not Jeremy Chinn recovers in time to get the start. The rookie linebacker/safety gives the Panthers defense versatility it desperately needs to be competent. If he can’t play in this game, Brady and the Buccaneers are going to light up the scoreboard. Even if Chinn does make it back, Tampa Bay may take out their veteran frustrations on the inexperienced Panthers.
