4. Los Angeles Dodgers

It’s time for the Dodgers to make a decision on Gavin Lux. If they don’t believe the 22-year-old is ready to take over the second base job on a permanent basis then they may turn to LeMahieu in free agency. Los Angeles desperately wants to defend the World Series title they fought so hard to secure.

The franchise certainly has the money to successfully lure a free agent of LeMahieu’s caliber, but this might not be the right offseason for the Dodgers to flex their financial muscle. They already have a relatively expensive roster that’s proven they can win a title.

On the other hand, MLB teams who sit still in free agency generally find themselves going backward. Los Angeles is not going to simply sit back and rest on their laurels this offseason. Moves will be made to strengthen Dave Roberts’ roster.

At the very least, expect the Dodgers to keep tabs on LeMahieu until he chooses a final destination. They may not jump into the fray with an early offer, but they will stay in the mix long enough to make sure no one escapes with a bargain. That makes Los Angeles an intriguing dark horse in the race to sign LeMahieu. Don’t sleep on their chances to outspend the competition if they deem the price to be right.
