Pick Analysis. Sam Darnold. 2.. 30. Scouting Report. QB. New York Jets. player

Lest we forget that the Denver Broncos were deeply considering adding a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, the quarterback of their choice wasn’t on the board and opted to select Bradley Chubb once he miraculously dropped to them at pick No. 5. Three years later, the Broncos can get one of the top quarterback prospects of that class in Sam Darnold.

The former USC Trojan hasn’t had the best of luck since being drafted by the New York Jets (shocker). He’s dealt with injuries, the mumps, a porous offensive line, a lackluster receiving corps and Adam Gase all in the first three seasons of his career. As of this writing, the Jets are 0-9 on the season and are in the driver’s seat to earn the first-overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, which will no doubt be used on Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. That stings for Darnold, but if the Jets are in that position, they have no choice but to take Lawrence. He’s a generational talent that you simply can’t pass upon.

This could be a blessing for the Broncos. Darnold was a better prospect coming out of college than Lock was, and trading for him would likely come at the cost of a second-round draft pick. The Broncos would get Darnold, who would then inherit the Broncos’ tremendous group of receivers. Trust us, Darnold will be a happy camper in Denver.
