Throw the deuces up Cordarrlle.

Although it’s not a must-win game for the Chicago Bears, it somewhat is if you truly look at it. After beginning the season. 5-1, Chicago dropped three straight to move to 5-4.

The Minnesota Vikings were coming in hot on a two-game win streak. And although Cairo Santos made a pair of field goals, Minnesota still led 7-6 entering halftime.

Then the third quarter began and Cordarrelle Patterson decided to play football.

Racing down the sideline going near untouched, the once former Vikings first-rounder received vengeance on his old team, heading back the other way for a 104-yard kick return for the touchdown. It would be the first return for a score for Patterson this season.

A monster day for Patterson overall

Outside of a few suave catches from Allen Robinson, Patterson has been the Bears’ entire offense Monday night. Entering the third quarter, the 29-year-old gadget player leads the team with 25 yards on seven carries and has a catch for a gain of nine.

This season, Patterson leads the NFL in return yards. After that play, the Bears do-it-all man now has 756 yards on the year. For his career, that touchdown will be Patterson’s eighth.

Chicago desperately needs a win to stay alive in the postseason conversation. Plays like that will help them be the better team in their own backyard. Much like the team that let him go, Patterson let every Vikings player know that no one was catching him.

Deuces, Mike Zimmer.
