NBA Offseason 2020: 5 potential landing spots for Montrezl Harrell
By Mike Luciano
Yes, the Nuggets were responsible for helping Harrell’s Clippers blow a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals last year, but this fit makes too much sense. Denver has an odd roster construction. While the Nuggets have solid starters and backups at several key positions, they are also oddly star-dominant at times, as all that depth went away in the postseason when Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic took turns getting shots up. With the once excellent Paul Millsap starting to show his age a bit and Michael Porter Jr. looked more suited to a wing position rather than down low on the block, Harrell should look at signing in Denver.
While Bol Bol is an intriguing player that almost looks more at home as a guard despite his 7-foot-2 frame, he is still an unknown quantity at this point, and the Nuggets shouldn’t forego trying to sign Harrell because of Bol.
Harrell is not only an efficient scorer, but he isn’t going to demand the ball, which should be a major bonus for Murray and Jokic. While he won’t command the Nuggets’ offense like Jokic because he lacks the Serbian big’s rare passing ability, adding a Sixth Man of the Year is the type of move that will help prove Denver’s Conference Finals run was not just a fluke or the fault of the Clippers choking.
