With the news that Theo Epstein is leaving the Cubs, new Mets owner Steve Cohen should do everything possible to bring him to Queens.

Some earth-shattering news has arrived for Major League Baseball and the Chicago Cubs. That’s because it was announced on Tuesday afternoon that Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein has stepped down from his position and will leave the team on Nov. 20.

Where in the world did this come from? With Epstein on his way out of the Windy City, there will be countless team out there hoping to bring him to town to join their respective front offices.

However, we’re calling for new Mets owner Steve Cohen to get on the horn as soon as possible. That’s right, he needs to make a move to get Epstein to the National League, more importantly to Citi Field.

The New York Mets hiring Theo Epstein would be a dream come true for fans in Queens

Epstein is a proven winner. He made history in 2004 when Boston hired him at 28 as the club’s new general manager. After a brilliant run with the Red Sox, he joined the Cubs in 2011 and completely helped change the culture of the organization.

While Epstein has been running things, Chicago was able to bring in some serious talent to Wrigley Field. Of course, he also helped the team win the World Series in 2016, the Cubbies’ first title in 108 years. He’ll never have to pay for a slice of pizza in the city again.

Now, he’s looking for a new challenge. Why not with the Mets? With Cohen taking over as owner, this team is in the middle of a cultural shift as well. With Epstein known for arriving to new teams and getting things done, who’s to say he couldn’t do the exact same thing with the Mets?

Get out the blank check and give him the best parking spot outside the stadium. A Mets-Epstein union could give Mets fans some hope for once. Let’s see if Cohen can make magic happen.

Next. Steve Cohen clearly played big role in Marcus Stroman’s decision. dark
