With a player coming in for a workout, is the Bears’ season lost?

At 5-5, the Chicago Bears season is now dangling by a thread. Things only are getting worse on offense with the recent news of starting quarterback Nick Foles.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Bears recently brought in quarterback DeShone Kizer for a workout. Foles could miss time after suffering a hip injury Monday night against the Vikings. He would be carted off in the final seconds of the fourth quarter and is listed as day-to-day.

Kizer, a former 2017 second-round pick, is best known for his 0-16 season as the starting quarterback with the Cleveland Browns. During his lone season as the starter, the former Notre Dame alum finished with 2,894 yards and 11 touchdowns against a league-high 22 interceptions.

Kizer was traded to the

Green Bay Packers

in 2018 before spending a season with the Raiders. He was released from their practice squad earlier this season.

What can the Bears do to fix their quarterback concerns?

The Bears started hot at 5-1 despite both Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles struggling. After three-straight losses, Bears’ coach Matt Nagy relinquished calling plays to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Things didn’t improve as Foles finished 15-of-26 for 106 yards and an interception.

Now sitting at 5-5, things will need to immensely change when the team returns from their bye week in Week 12. Three of Chicago’s next four games will be against divisional opponents, including a rematch against Minnesota in Week 15.

The teams hope is Foles could return soon or even start Trusibky if he’s recovered from his shoulder injury. If neither can go, Tyler Brady would be the next man up unless the team adds another name. If that’s the case, it could be a sign Chicago is waiving the white flag on 2020 and hope to start fresh as a new year resolution.
