Jaguars fans try to screw Vikings with Yannick Ngakoue Pro Bowl push
The Jacksonville Jaguars get a better draft pick if Yannick Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl, and the fans in Duval have taken action.
After this, perhaps the Minnesota Vikings petition the NFL to get rid of fan voting for the Pro Bowl.
On Wednesday, word broke of Jacksonville Jaguars fans planning to stuff the ballot box to get Baltimore Ravens edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue voted into the Pro Bowl. So why does this matter to the Vikings, who dealt Ngakoue to the Ravens in October for a third-round pick.
Because before that deal, the 25-year-old star was traded by Jacksonville to Minnesota in the offseason, with the Vikings sending a second-round and conditional fifth-round choices to Jacksonville. However, the condition is if Ngakoue earns a Pro Bowl nod, the fifth-round pick becomes a fourth.
With Pro Bowl voting in full swing, fans get to pick the players they want to see. If the Jaguars’ fans — and very likely they’ll now have help from fans of the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears — can get Ngakoue voted into the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career, Minnesota is out of luck.
Furthermore, Ngakoue is having a very nice year and deserves legitimate talk. He’s racked up five sacks, all coming with Minnesota. Now, he’s trying to help the Ravens get back into the playoffs, albeit as a likely wild card team in the AFC.
All told, with the Jaguars are 1-8 and seemingly headed for another awful campaign, at least their fans have something fun to rally around.
