The newest Los Angeles Laker paid tribute to Kobe Bryant days after his trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Los Angeles Lakers are one month out from winning the NBA title for the first time since 2010. But once the playoffs ended, the Lakers began focusing on how they can create a potential dynasty and contend for the championship once again. So, this past week, the Lakers acquired guard Dennis Schroder in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for guard Danny Green and the 28th overall pick of this year’s draft, which was later traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Wednesday, the trade was made official and the Lakers announced Schroder as the newest member of the organization. One day later, the newest member of the “Lake Show” paid tribute to the legendary Kobe Bryant in an Instagram post.

The Lakers had a need at the point guard, as Rajon Rondo is an unrestricted free agent and the team waived Quinn Cook earlier on Thursday.

The void is immediately filled by Schroder, who had a big supporter in the organization in LeBron James. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, James “wanted to play with [Schroder] for a while,” while mentioning that the Lakers almost pulled off a trade at the 2019 trade deadline. LeBron got his guy in Schroder, who’s coming off a strong campaign in Oklahoma City.

As a shooting guard off the bench, Shroder averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds, while 46.9-percent from the field and 38.5-percent from the three-point line. As a result of his individual success and the team’s unexpected run to the playoffs, Schroder was named a finalist for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award. However, Schroder finished second behind Los Angeles Clippers center Montrezl Harrell.

Now, as the newest member of the Lakers, Schroder introduced himself to the fanbase by honoring the late, great Kobe Bryant.
