Cincinnati Bengals (2-6-1) at Washington Football Team (2-7), 1:00 pm

Bengals: It was a rough outing in Pittsburgh for rookie quarterback Joe Burrow, who was sacked four times in a 36-10 loss to the Steelers. The young performer has been sacked 32 times this seasons in nine games. The Bengals’ defense must come up with more big plays. The club has just nine takeaways and 11 quarterback traps this season.

Washington: Veteran Alex Smith came up big last week despite not throwing a touchdown pass in the 30-27 loss at Detroit. He connected on 38-of-55 passes for 390 yards and zero interceptions. Washington’s ground game came up with only 89 yards, the sixth time in nine games that the team has been held below 100 yards rushing this year.

Miami Dolphins (6-3) at Denver Broncos (3-6), 4:05 pm

Dolphins: Only the Steelers (9) and Saints (6) own a current longer winning streak than Brian Flores’ team, which has prevailed in each of its last five games. The Dolphins’ bolstered defense continues its turnaround from a year ago when the club finished with an NFL-low 23 sacks (22 in 2020) and managed only 16 takeaways (15 this season).

Broncos: While it doesn’t all fall on the defense, Denver has allowed at least 30 points in each of their last four games and surrendered a total of 144 points over that stretch. Struggling Drew Lock, who threw four interceptions in the loss at Las Vegas, is nursing a rib injury. The Broncos have now totaled an NFL-high 21 turnovers this season.
