Things just got a lot tougher for Vic Fangio’s slumping Denver Broncos.

They not only lost their first three games but their promising second-year quarterback went down in Week 2 with a shoulder injury (via Joe Nguyen of the Denver Post).

The 3-6 Denver Broncos have gone through three different starting signal-callers in 2020, making for a lot of instability on the offensive side of the ball. And head coach Vic Fangio and coordinator Pat Shurmur are preparing to make another change.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Drew Lock was hurt in the team’s 37-12 loss at Las Vegas on Sunday. It’s a rib injury that could sideline him for this week’s clash with the visiting Miami Dolphins – winner of their last five games. The club would turn to either Brett Rypien or well-traveled Jeff Driskel.

The latter started in Week 3 and the team fell at home, 28-10. Four days later, Rypien got the call against the Jets at MetLife Stadium and the club came away with a wild 37-28 Thursday night win.

The Broncos would not take the field for another 17 days and when they did, Lock was back at the controls. But he and the offense settled for six field goals in an 18-12 win at New England. All told, the 2019 second-round pick has started the team’s last five games and he’s not only combined for six scores and 10 interceptions, he’s been picked off at least once in each of those contests.

It proved to be a rough Sunday for a number of quarterbacks. Drew Brees could miss significant time after injuring his ribs and more vs. the 49ers. Carolina’s Teddy Bridgewater left the team’s clash with Tampa Bay on Sunday with a knee injury and his status for this week is iffy.

Now add Lock to the list and the Broncos, who have allowed at least 30 points in each of their last four games, could use all the offensive help they can get.
