Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jacksonville Jaguars. 2. 52. QB. Jake Luton. player

A Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback performing poorly? Say it ain’t so! Look, we had very low expectations for Jake Luton against the dominant defense of the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, but we didn’t expect him to be this bad.

Luton managed to play the entirety of the game, despite the fact that he completed 16-of-37 pass attempts for 135 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions, while posting an abysmal passer rating of 15.5. Two of Luton’s picks came on Jacksonville’s final two drives of the first half, where he targeted his security blanket in tight end Tyler Eifert. All four of those interceptions came from Pittsburgh’s safety duo of Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds, who finished the game with two each.

It’s become patently obvious that the Jaguars are trying to secure one of the top two selections in the upcoming NFL Draft. Which is why head coach Doug Marrone decided to take it easy with normal starter Gardner Minshew with his thumb injury. It’s hard to envision the Jaguars getting the first-overall pick for the rights to Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, because the New York Jets are in the drivers seat.

Starting Luton from here on out is not a wise decision for the Jaguars, and this game against the Steelers proved just that.
