42. San Francisco 49ers. player. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. Jimmy Garoppolo

Garoppolo has a few factors going against him. He is a major injury risk who has started seven or more games in a season only once, he is in the middle of a hefty contract that still has two years left on it, and he is playing for a brilliant coach in Kyle Shanahan who doesn’t always trust him enough to take the training wheels off. Still, when he’s in rhythm, Garoppolo is an accurate, efficient passer that can make some big-time throws when needed and has starting experience in the postseason. If San Francisco wants to unload him and start fresh in a tough division, Washington could be a landing spot.

Be it a core tenant of his offensive philosophy or simply trying to make the best out of a bad situation, Turner’s passing game features minimal downfield shots and involved quickly spreading the ball around. Most of Garoppolo’s problems come from holding the ball too long, and he’ll end up in an offense that is conducive to his strengths if Washington tries to trade for him. This front office has shown they can draft well, they just need to nail the quarterback, and Garoppolo would help them check that box if they take on his contract.
