Aaron Rodgers eclipses 50,000 career yards in Sunday night blowout win

Aaron Rodgers continued to make NFL history Sunday night by reaching a passing yards milestone.

Aaron Rodgers entered Sunday night’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears on the brink of making history.

The veteran signal-caller only needed 165 passing yards to reach 50,000 for his career and it did not take long for him to get there against a Bears defense that lacks any motivation.

Rodgers had four touchdowns before the start of the fourth quarter and the new milestone was a nice addition to an already great night. He is now 11th all-time in NFL passing yards and one of six active players to have at least 50,000 yards. Drew Brees is atop the list with Tom Brady in second. Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, and Matt Ryan are the others to reach this impressive mark.

Brett Favre’s former backup was drafted in 2005 and didn’t make a single start until 2008. He has been tearing it up ever since and has thrown for at least 4,000 yards in eight seasons. If not for two seasons where he dealt with major injuries he would have reached this milestone much sooner.

There was so much drama surrounding Rodgers and the Packers when the team decided to use a first-round pick on quarterback Jordan Love this year. It is almost easy to forget that even happened given how Rodgers has looked like an MVP candidate and is out there setting records seemingly with ease.

Reaching 50,000 yards is an amazing accomplishment and the next goal will be sticking around long enough to reach 60,000. Whether that mark will be reached in Green Bay, elsewhere, or not at all is an interesting storyline regarding Rodgers and the short-term future of this Packers team.
