If you’re a fan of the New York Giants, well you have been on a roller coaster this season. After the team started the year 0-5, they have gone 4-2 in the last six games and sit firmly within the NFC East playoff picture with a 4-7 record.
One reason for this resurgence has been the better play on the offensive side. Specifically, from quarterback Daniel Jones limiting his turnovers.
One of Jones’ favorite targets is second-year receiver Darius Slayton, and he is someone to spend some time looking into for Week 13. The Giants play the Seattle Seahawks this week, so even if Jones is not able to play Slayton still has a great matchup.
Slayton has big-play potential, and he has been a very steady receiver over the duration of his brief career. In Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he had five catches on seven targets for 93 yards. During the team’s loss in Week 5, he saw 11 targets and hauled in eight of those for 129 yards, and in Week 1 he went off against the Pittsburgh Steelers with six receptions for 102 yards and two scores.
As you can see, Slayton gets quite a few balls thrown his way, and he is productive with those targets.
Now, playing the Seahawks is never an easy task, especially on the road. Granted, the stadiums are either not full, or completely empty, this season.
Regardless, Seattle’s defense has not been great in 2020, and receivers have done a lot of damage against the team’s secondary.
A ton of the success the Giants have had falls on the play of that offense, and that offense appears to be better when Slayton is involved. In a game the Giants will need, Slayton could potentially have his number called a lot against the Seahawks.
Even with his quiet game last week, Slayton still has value this week.
