3. Colts at Texans

The Texans enter this matchup a full three games behind the Colts in the AFC South with an overall record of 4-7. That makes them a fringe playoff contender, at best. Rest assured though, no elite team wants to see Deshaun Watson stroll into town in their postseason opener.

If Houston wants to keep their playoff hopes on life support, they have to knock off Indianapolis. The Colts come into this game smarting from a decisive loss against the Titans. Fortunately for Frank Reich and his coaching staff, Derrick Henry won’t be lining up on the other side of the field this week.

Watson and his offense will present the Colts with a different sort of challenge. The loss of DeAndre Hopkins still leaves the team short of an elite playmaker, but Watson is spraying the ball around the field with startling effectiveness. There will be a ton of pressure on everyone in the Colts’ secondary to play well to prevent this game from devolving into a shootout.

That’s not a comfortable place for Indianapolis to reside with Philip Rivers at quarterback. He’s best used in low volume. There’s a decent chance Houston can spring the upset here. It’s certainly worth a close look on Sunday afternoon.
