Fantasy Football 2020: 5 bold predictions for Week 14
By Dustin Baker
2. Bench Miles Sanders this week
We’re not kidding. The recommendation last week was to start Sanders against a Packers defense that struggles mightily against running backs for fantasy purposes. The Eagles and Sanders could not even handle that task.
If Sanders could get nothing going vs. a lenient Packers rushing defense, he for damn sure isn’t going to right the ship against New Orleans. The Saints are stingy penny-pinchers when it comes to running backs’ fantasy points. They allow 10 points per contest to all opposing halfbacks — otherwise known as best in the NFL. Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers approach this level of supremacy at 12 points allowed per game for this metric.
The Eagles are also starting Jalen Hurts rather than Carson Wentz at the quarterback position. There is a sports adage that goes something like this: “Give it a shot — can it really get any worse?” Normally when folks utter those words, it indeed gets worse. That’s not to say Hurts will be putrid (like Wentz), but plucking Hurts for the start instead of Wentz is not a blueprint for assured success. Think of it as straw-grasping.
In any event, if you have a David Montgomery-type on your bench, start that man over Sanders.
