Kevin Durant isn’t worried about James Harden right now.

Just days before Kevin Durant’s first season alongside Kyrie Irving on a Brooklyn Nets team that is thinking about a championship, a surprisingly high amount of questions were being asked about a player on the Houston Rockets. With James Harden arriving to camp late, a move many assume was calculated in order to force a trade to Brooklyn, Durant is doing everything that he can to change the subject.

Per Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, Durant doesn’t think about a Harden trade “at all”, citing the simple fact that he doesn’t play for the Nets as proof.

Kevin Durant might not want to upset the apple cart by trading for Harden

While the 1-2 punch of the mercurial Durant and electric Irving should be enough to get the Nets into the postseason picture, the likes of Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, and Jarrett Allen give Brooklyn tons of depth behind their two star players. A Harden trade would likely mean sending their entire bench and years of draft picks to Houston.

Between the fact that a Harden trade would rob them of their depth and how Steve Nash would have to figure out how to get three ball-dominant players to share the ball, it’s probably best for Brooklyn to stay away from that right now.

While Brooklyn could have any number of interesting storylines that can and will unfold this season, most of the media chatter seems to be related to a hypothetical Harden trade. Rather than subtly wink to the media and imply that he wants his former Oklahoma City teammate to rejoin him in Brooklyn, Durant shut these rumors down in the swiftest way possible as he tries to gel with his new team.

Next. One bold prediction for every NBA team. dark
