5 NFL teams who will have new starting quarterbacks in 2021
The Bears are moving on from Mitch Trubisky after the season, and the offense was actually a notch or two worse with Nick Foles under center this year.
Foles’ contract says he’ll probably be back next year, even if head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace are gone. But we probably would’ve said that a year ago, and the Jacksonville Jaguars found a sucker…I mean a trade partner in Chicago.
In any case, the Bears are headed for another reset under center in 2021. A first-round pick in the 10-15 overall range come April could yield someone, or perhaps they turn to free agency or a trade. On those latter two ends, cap space will be an issue.
Regardless of the avenue (draft, free agency etc.), the Bears seemed destined to always make the wrong move at quarterback. But it won’t be hard to find someone better (or at least more exciting) than Foles, and the looming new GM-head coach pairing will be tasked with getting it done.
