Florida basketball has a positive update regarding Keyontae Johnson’s health.

We have some good news about Florida basketball forward Keyontae Johnson’s health.

Johnson collapsed on the court during the Florida Gators’ game on Saturday vs. the in-state rival Florida State Seminoles. Florida head coach Mike White and Johnson’s teammates voted to keep playing, but it was a scary moment for all involved. He was transported to the hospital where he was in stable, but critical condition. Three days later, we have some great news on this front.

Johnson is responsive, is able to speak and was even communicate with his teammates over FaceTime. His parents Nika and Marrecus Johnson stressed that if any information that does not come from them or the Florida athletic department may not be accurate. There were reports that Johnson was put into a medically-induced coma, but that does not appear to be the case.

It remains to be seen if and when Johnson will return to the Florida basketball team. Florida has two more non-conference games vs. the Florida Atlantic Owls and the James Madison Dukes before SEC play commences at the end of the month vs. the Vanderbilt Commodores. We are thrilled Johnson’s health is trending in the right direction after a terrifying incident on Saturday.

This is the best news we have heard about Johnson in the last three days by far.
