Lakers’ gorgeous championship rings contain a Kobe Bryant tribute (Video)

The Los Angeles Lakers’ championship rings feature a special tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

The NBA officially returned to action Tuesday night, and that meant the Los Angeles Lakers received their championship rings.

The usually raucous event was much different in 2020, as everything has been, due to the lack of fans in attendance. However, the Lakers won the most unique Finals in league history and still got a nice ring ceremony featuring video messages from the players’ family members.

A ring with a story for the Lakers

The Bryant tribute is featured under the top of the ring that apparently comes off. His No. 8 and No. 24 also appear to rise up among the other retired numbers in Lakers franchise history. Championship rings seem to get more impressive every year, and this is a nice addition to that trend.

2020 was a brutal year for the entire Lakers organization. Winning the championship brought some joy to the franchise that dealt with an unexpected and horrific tragedy of Kobe’s death during the middle of the regular season.

The next basketball-related challenge was taking months off and then spending several months away from home in Orlando. Even through all of that, they were able to persevere as champions.

Bryant’s legacy still hangs over the franchise in a good way. His two legendary numbers hang from the rafters and are now part of a permanent piece of history in the form of the championship rings.

Bryant is one of the greatest players not only to play in Los Angeles, but one of the best to ever suit up in NBA history. This tribute is well-deserved, and the Lakers will try to win another one for the late superstar in 2021.
