LeBron James and Anthony Davis started off the 2020-21 NBA season in style with a ring ceremony.

The Los Angeles Lakers won arguably the most difficult NBA Finals in league history two months ago in Orlando. The team persevered through spending months in the bubble at the Walt Disney Resort and took down the Miami Heat to become champions.

LeBron James captured his fourth championship and Anthony Davis finally got his first. Unfortunately, Tuesday night will not feature a major celebration at Staples Center. Fans will not be in attendance, and the team has decided to hold off on the championship banner reveal for now.

However, the players did still get their rings and looked thrilled in the process.

Much of the excitement was due to the team having players’ families appear on video to announce the rings for each player. Anthony Davis’ family was up first:

James’s family was up next, and he even got some love from students at his I Promise school in Akron. You could tell the smiles were genuine and it was a great consolation without fans in the crowd.

Perhaps the best part for Lakers fans is the team getting the rings before a game against the LA Clippers — you know, the team that was supposed to battle the Lakers last year, only to collapse in the Western Conference semifinals. The Lakers lived up to the hype and will now look to repeat in what will be another unique NBA season.

One good announcement made before the rings were handed out is that when fans are allowed back, the Lakers will have another ceremony for the banner to be officially revealed. A championship celebration is already a wild event. The one following the COVID-19 pandemic is going to be insane.

The rings have been handed out and the season is underway. The next step is getting fans back in the stands so the celebrations can continue every single night.
