Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . 2.. player. 17. NL East. Atlanta Braves

The Braves extended the Los Angeles Dodgers to seven games in the 2020 NLCS, so the next step should be in mind. Losing out on Snell feels like a setback, assuming they entered the conversation there with the Rays. Even after adding Charlie Morton and Drew Smyly in free agency to fortify the starting rotation, Atlanta may be in a position to add payroll. But if GM Alex Anthopolous’ recent history is any indicator, taking on multiple years of eight-figure salary for a player who is not a star might be a bridge too far.

An outfield featuring Ronald Acuña and Kiermaier would be where fly balls go to die. Maybe they could get the Rays to take on an expiring contract to pave the path to getting Kiermaier, while also clearing a spot on the depth chart for him.

Even if the Braves re-sign Marcell Ozuna, outfield would still be a potential area of upgrade. Moves to take the next step and win the World Series have to be in order, and a solid farm system gives Atlanta resources to get some focused trades done if possibilities are out there.
