College football DFS wide receiver picks January 2:

Top Tier:

This wide receiver slate feels like a letdown after last night. Ty Fryfogle has better potential than anyone, but I think his stats will suffer a bit with Penix out. Fryfogle only caught one pass in the regular season finale against Wisconsin. Whop Philyor was much better in that game and is where I’m leaning today.

You really can’t go wrong with Jalen Wydermyer. He’s the most targeted Aggie by a longshot and is a touchdown waiting to happen. No matter the matchup, Mond finds him for at least one touchdown a game.

Middle Tier:

I don’t think Iowa State is going to have to throw much, but Charlie Kolar is much like Wydermyer. He doesn’t get a ton of targets in the middle of the field, but he gets a ton in the red zone. I trust him more than the receivers on his team and anyone from NC State.

Kentucky won’t throw much, but when they do, it’s a good bet Josh Ali willl be on the receiving end. However, with both Moore and Sanders out for Ole Miss, Dontario Drummond is in for an absolute monster game here. If you need more than one value play, I don’t mind Ali, but under no circumstances should you fade Drummond for him.

Bargain Shoppers:

Jonathan Mingo finds himself as the number two receiver for Ole Miss. Mingo got a decent amount of targets anyway. He should see a nice increase here.

I don’t see Indiana having to dump off much. If I’m going that cheap, I’m taking a chance on the high upside of Johnny Johnson. Hunter Kampmoyer could be a good option too if Iowa State gets enough pressure to force the Ducks to check down a lot.
