5 head coaching candidates for the Houston Texans this offseason
Everyone should know who the top name on the market will be. In second place? There really is no debate after another 300-plus yard game from Josh Allen against Bill Belichick’s defense.
Brian Daboll was brought to the Bills to fix the former No. 7 overall pick. After his rookie year, many believed Allen would be a bust due to his inaccuracy and high turnover ratio. He had all the talent to be great but all the mechanics to struggle beyond belief.
Daboll’s work has Allen looking like an MVP for the next decade. With the addition of Stefon Diggs, the two have become one of the more dangerous duos in the NFL. On top of that, Daboll brings a winning a pedigree, hoisting five Super Bowls with Belichick and a national title on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.
Houston needs a winner, while Watson needs a person who can bring out the best of his skills. Daboll is both mixed into one offensive mind. He likely played a role in the staff rebuilding their offensive line allow Allen to help him move better. Could the same be done in Houston?
This should be every team’s backup plan, and for some, their first and only call.
