Scouting Report. West. Denver Broncos. 45. player. Pick Analysis. AFC. 2

The Broncos might say that they’re all in on Drew Lock as he finishes up his second season. Lock is 4-8 as a starter, with 15 interceptions, the most in the NFL, against just 14 touchdowns. Lock’s cavalier attitude with the ball and inconsistency is one of the main reasons a Denver team some expected to make it into the postseason has ended up once again watching the playoffs at home on TV. John Elway has built a quality roster on both offense and defense, but Lock’s regression has knee-capped their progress, and Elway could look to replace him with Cam if he thinks the Broncos are close to contending.

While his record as a coordinator deserves some criticism, Mike Shula was the play-caller when Cam won his MVP in 2015. Shula has since resurfaced in Denver as the quarterbacks coach under OC Pat Shurmur. If anyone knows what makes Cam tick and how to get the most out of him, it’s Shula.

Denver is not short on offensive weapons. Melvin Gordon and Philip Lindsay are a tremendous RB tandem, and a three-wide formation featuring Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and KJ Hamler at wide receiver and Noah Fant at tight end would be the best set of complimentary skill position players Newton has ever played with, even dating back to the Carolina days. With Shula reunited with Cam and a plethora of weapons around him, Cam could recapture his past form in Denver.
