The Houston Texans have found their next general manager in Nick Caserio.

Following the announcement of John Elway’s promotion, seven general manager spots were available this offseason. Heading into Wednesday, six remain.

The Houston Texans are set to hire New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio as the team’s GM for the 2021 season. The news was first reported by Houston Chronicle’s John McClain and later confirmed by several sources.

The Texans had the earliest say in the hiring process following the firing of Bill O’Brien. O’Brien, who officially took over the title during the 2020 offseason, made several costly moves such as trading away All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins and a pair of first-round picks for Laremy Tunsil.

Caserio a clear choice for the Texans

Texans fans should remember the name Caserio from the past. Last season, Jack Easterby tried to hire the 45-year-old away from New England, but the deal was blocked by New England after the team threatened tampering charges.

This was a move set in motion by Easterby, showing his control of the franchise moving forward. The team now has their executive, time to find their next head coach.
