3 players Chicago Bears should target in 2021 NFL Draft
The Bears should not be fooled by the late-season illusion that was Trubisky’s late-season competence that propelled them to a Wild Card berth. His string of successes down the stretch should not influence the Bears’ offseason decision on Trubisky but, regardless of what happens with the former second overall pick, Chicago needs a fresh face in the quarterback room that is not Nick Foles.
Teams may be reticent to spend a first-round pick on a quarterback that is not Lawrence, Fields, Wilson or Trey Lance, but Jones is making a compelling case for being potentially the fifth quarterback to go in the first 32 picks in his lone season as the starter for the Crimson Tide, which could end in a National Championship win.
Jones does not have the elite physical tools of some of his peers in the prospective 2021 quarterback class, but he is a poised quarterback who processes information extremely well and gets the ball out quickly with accuracy and anticipation.
The calm Jones has displayed while going up against SEC competition has rarely been a feature of Trubisky’s game either in college or the pros. Jones is somebody Matt Nagy could rely on to pick up his offense quickly and provide a dependable presence who can get the ball to a group of playmakers to which the Bears need to add.
