3 players Chicago Bears should target in 2021 NFL Draft

The Bears need to invest in offense to escape mediocrity.

The Chicago Bears made an unlikely run to the playoffs in the 2020 season, but that should not mask the failings of a largely unconvincing season that raises more questions than answers about  a team that seems to forever exist in the vast middle of the NFL.

Though reaching the postseason is a commendable achievement, the reality is that the Bears are mired in mediocrity and, from a team-building perspective, Chicago’s late-season success complicates matters for a franchise in clear need of a reset, particularly at the quarterback position.

Former second overall pick Mitchell Trubisky is not the answer for the Bears, despite his improved performances in the closing weeks of the regular season, but they may be convinced to give him another year after he helped Chicago to a second postseason berth in three seasons.

There is enough compelling evidence to suggest the Bears should fight the urge to stick with Trubisky and the Bears could be in a position to land one of the second-tier quarterbacks in the draft once the likes of Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Zach Wilson are off the board.

Chicago’s draft should predominantly be focused around ensuring the offense has the talent to better complement a still strong defense that has for too long carried too much of the load for the Bears.

No position on that side of the ball should be off-limits, and here we pick out three potential options for the Bears as they look to make the right moves to jump from seventh seed to legitimate contender in the NFC.
